Learning a foreign language

In my career, one of the things that I am most frequently being informed of is that Brits are just rubbish at languages.

Statistically, this is true – levels of language proficiency on the island are lower than in most other parts of Europe.

However, individual abilities and dispositions to language learning are in no way worse than in any other nation.

This part of the website is dedicated to common misconceptions about language learning, to explaining how language learning works, and how to become a successful language learner. I’ll cautiously throw in a bit of theory at times.
